PROJECT:
Logo + brand + website + email marketing + all the things!
CLIENT: Hairspray Salon
LOGO + BRAND
OBJECTIVE: When the new owner took over in 2013, she wanted a new look for the salon. I was tasked to design a logo + brand for this high energy, snob free salon in Hillcrest, San Diego. The salon originally opened in 1997 and was in need of a refresh.

CHALLENGE: The salon owner wanted one element to be in the logo: 1980s Aquanet Hairspray cans to create the "H", with one can right-side-up and one can up-side-down. She also wanted it to be clean and modern. Oh boy.

SOLUTION: I used poppy colors like turquoise, magenta, and black to illicit that fun 80s vibe, but without getting too cheesy. I drew the Aquanet cans to spec and isolated the "H" in a circle so as to contain it and achieve "clean and modern". For the text portion, I used a very simple, classic yet modern, rounded san-serif font. I also added some "high energy snob free" 80s vibe with the gem and lip kiss. Her response to the logo (and everything else I've designed for her since 2013): "Omg it's like you're in my head."

OTHER PROJECTS: Web design www.hairspraysalonhillcrest.com, email marketing, marquee sign, window decals, business cards, salon signage, flyers, magazine/newspaper ads, social media.
